So, I’m going to see the third installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy tonight, and I have mixed feelings about it. I mean, I know it’s going to be a good time, and I will undoubtedly enjoy it as much as I have the others, but it is the end of my favourite trilogy of films as of late, and I don’t know if I’m ready to say goodbye to Captain Jack, Elizabeth Swann, or even William Turner.
I confess that I may have done away with the brave and honourable Will Turner in Dead Man’s Chest, but then you would have had scores of young girls who would be devastated! And goodness knows you can’t have your main target audience devastated; that would surely mean financial suicide. But hey, who among us would chose Will Turner over Jack Sparrow? I mean, really. Maybe I’m biased. That must be it. Any thoughts?
